What are the values you believe in? Why do you believe in them and where did they come from? The common structures upon which we base our lives are, at best, unsustainable and, at worse, wholly destructive. These facts have been recognised by the majority of world leaders and yet, despite recent and repeated warnings that we are fast approaching a point of no return. The world's governments pay these issues little more then lip service. When faced with the inevitable outcome how do you respond? Fear, guilt, outrage? How about: just buckle your seat-belt and enjoy the ride?

    Spacedog UK
    Poynter Room
    18.30 - 21.45
Live recording on the Edison phonograph, ghostly waterphonics and music plucked from the telephone lines, the toolshed and the aether were in this mini cabaret of acoustic curiosity. Audience members were invited to try their hand at some inventive sonic oddities, plundered from the archives by this Brighton-based trio.

Richard Shed & Sam Johnson's da Vinci workshop
The Dorothy and Michael Hintze Galleries, Room 24
    18.30 - 21.45
Contributions to a collective design on canvas of  magnificent machines in the style of Leonardo da Vinci. With a little the help from the da Vinci Team and their own grey matter, participants devised the first strokes of a mobile city, a prison ship, the tallest building in the world or a machine for a trip to the moon. The weird and wonderful eclectic collection of inventions was then displayed in the gallery with their inventors' signatures at the foot of the canvases.

Films from the DBD Inclusive Design Challenge

Milkman by Factory Design: A clever alternative to the standard milk carton that makes life easier for all, especially people with arthritus.

Tilting Trike: a pedal vehicle for all abilities: By Ben Wilson / RCA Design Products. Research and development of a new pedal-powered tricycle for children that can be quickly adapted to the needs of those without lower body strength.

Indulgent bathing: new narratives for older people in the bathroom: By Julie Mathias / RCA Design Products. This design study explores what luxury and indulgence in the bathroom might mean for people over the age of 50.
