CreateLive: Events for 11-19s

CreateLive is a programme of workshops, courses, and free events for 11–19 year olds. There are four three-month seasons every year, each with a different theme related to the Museum's collectionsand exhibitions such as Fashion, Digital, Performance and Graphics.See below for what's on.

Booking information
Activities take place on Saturdays and during holidays. Some events are free and you can just drop-in, for others space is limited so you will need to book in advance. You can pay by credit or debit card over the phone or send a cheque made out to the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Please bring a packed lunch for the day-long workshops. One free place is available to a carer accompanying a disabled person.

Carnival Helmet Mask

Sunday 22 November (11-15s)

Design impressive carnival headwear inspired by the Sowo Mask and worn by the Mende people of Sierra Leone, with artist Ray Mahabir of Sunshine International Arts.  You will learn more about this wooden helmet mask, Carnival today and African festivals and ceremonies of the past. The workshop includes a visit to the Theatre and Performance galleries to look at costumes and headdresses, made for theatre but using carnival art techniques.
