Illustrating an article entitled 'The Game' a fictional story appearing in the Economist.
A fictionalised account of a Downing Street drinks reception for lobby correspondents. It all takes place in one room in a short space of time and is described with disdain by a seasoned journalist from his vantage point behind a pillar. The 'game' is the jostling for a good position to speak to the Prime Minister when he eventually arrives. I wanted to avoid showing faces of the people as it would have been too literal so I focused on the room. Some of it is described but not in detail, so being specific with the furniture and decor seemed a good way of complementing the text rather than repeating anything in it. This approach was only possible because I was able to look round the virtual room on the Downing Street website. Annabel Wright
