Commissioned to illustrate a piece on an independent bookshop. The bookshop is Sam Read in Grasmere. Neil Rollinson is the author and he focuses on the bookshop as a refuge from the relentless rain and winter weather of the Lake District. An escape from the ‘trinket shops and tea rooms’. He talks about the inpressive contemporary poetry collection and the fact that the bookshop sits in the birthplace of English Romanticism.
The brief was very open. The main thing was to tap into the unique quality of the bookshop in question as I saw fit.
