Children's book illustrations based on the poem Flannan Isle

The brief for this piece of work was to create a Double page spread and 4 single pages to illustrate the poem 'Flannan Isle' by Wilfred Wilson Gibson, executed in the style of a children's picture book aimed at primary school children. I used watercolour paints, a bold design and bright colours to try and bring the characters to life. The poem itself is very dark and it was a challenge to create a piece of work suitable for this age range in the style.
