From Egypt to England

From Egypt to England

These etching illustrations are for a narrative book, 'From Egypt to England' which is based around a true story of a British child that grew up in an Egyptian Palace in the early 1900s. This was because his father worked for King Fuad as a chauffeur and also taught his son King Farouk how to drive. The narrative is set when WW2 is announced and the family have to move away from Egypt and return urgently to England by boat. During the journey they pass countries such as Africa and also encounter a battle against a lost German U-boat before arriving in England during the Liverpool Docks Bombings. The book will be shown through the eyes of a small English boy along with the comparison of culture and atmosphere between Cairo and London. This will also show the close bond between the family; in particular between father and son.
