Love of Seven Dolls

For one of my modules at Plymouth University, I chose as a brief to illustrate Love of Seven Dolls by Paul Gallico. I was asked to design a cover sleeve and to create a total of seven illustrations. I enjoyed the book immensely and relished its strange mixture and sweet naivety along with corruption and darkness. I felt the need to bring into my illustrations the bleak and sinister atmosphere present in the text. I wasn't limited to any media or style so I grasped the opportunity to experiment with different techniques including etching, aquatint, woodcut, watercolour with Parker ink washes, and Indian ink washes.
