The Modern Condition: Deficiency of Love

This piece is part of a self-initiated project I created as part of my degree show. The project focussed on themes of morality and ethical issues, something which I have carried with me into my current postgraduate study. The image of the heart interests me greatly, as an icon which is used so widely as a symbol of a vast number of abstract themes.

This illustration is aimed at communicating a message about the corruption of love by materialistic values. More than just a statement about consumerism, this is an image which talks about the modern and typically western perversion of love which perhaps should be focussed on greater, non-materialistic world issues.
