Ocean folklore, superstitions and stories: Moby Dick and the Kraken.
These three pieces are part of a collection of objects and imagery I have so far created towards this project. I am interested in fantastical folklore, superstitions and stories. Research into these areas led me towards the mysteries of the ocean and how different people have told them throughout history, ranging from sailor's superstitions to famous novels such as '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea'. These images concentrate on two famous sea creatures; Moby Dick and the Kraken. I wanted to visualise the colossal size these creatures are portrayed to be, and highlight the collective unconsciousness that mankind has towards the ocean.
