This piece tells the story of the Siberian Folk tale where the Big Dipper star constellation steals the sun, casting the villagers into darkness. After half a year the sun is returned when the Great Hunter catches the Big Dipper. I designed it for a Narrative and Sequence project set in my First year which asked us to challenge the traditional idea of what a book can be and how a narrative can be read. My final piece was an interactive 3d globe using these illustrations where the narrative could be turned round behind the mountains and a light turned on to pick out the constellations. All the illustrations are hand drawn and painted before digitally assembling them for the final print.
