Spitting Feathers

Spitting Feathers

These images are from a university project entitled "Objects" where we had to choose an object at random from an envelope and develop conceptual imagery surrounding that word. My object was "birds". The main image is based on the phrase "spitting feathers" as a metaphor for anger in a very graphic comic book style for impact and to create drama, much like an argument. The second image is about the monogamy of swans, who mate for life, a concept I depicted through the use of the infinity symbol in a style influenced by celtic loveknots.

Both images were inked by hand in brush pen. The first image was coloured digitally to give flat bold colour, and the second image was coloured using watercolour.
