The Tale of Juba

The Tale of Juba

Having been given the task of creating a character and sequence, I set about developing a plot based on my research into Voodoo culture. I wrote a poem on which to take inspiration and form from. This short sequence explains why voodoo dolls are sad, using a fictional plot based on a few facts I discovered in my exploration of the subject. I illustrated each verse and chose to present them as a selection of five, dry point prints. I wanted the images to reflect the spooky, magical content and felt this medium worked well. The choice of blue ink helped to project a solemn, but soft atmosphere.
