These images are part of a series of illustrations in response to the short story 'Bliss' by Katherine Mansfield, one of several texts assigned during an illustration elective which was part of my MA at the RCA. The brief was to explore literature through images and to adapt the given text in our own visual language. To interpret the text, I focused on the aspect of the central theme of the protagonist's objectified life, rather than chasing the narrative flow. My aim is to evoke the still-life-like quality of the world inhabited by the female protagonist, portraying her fragility and naivety. (* Further images of the project :
