The Child Eating Woman, Picture Book

The Child Eating Woman, Picture Book

These double page spreads were created for a brief set on the module of Contemporary Illustration at The University Of Lincoln. We were given a short story about a woman who ate children to illustrate parts of the story for a children's book. As it was a story given to the whole year I wanted to put a unique twist onto my illustrations and to make the story my own. I tried to make it more unique by setting the characters in India. I have always been interested in bright colours and patterns, so I loved the idea of setting the children's book in India. It was interesting doing the research, and I experimented with different mediums such a lino printing, painting, sanding paint down, pen and ink; to help develop and create the final look of the pages. I wanted to create something decorative and exciting but also fun, that makes you smile. If I have done that, then job done.
