Illustrations for John Stuart Mill's book "On Liberty"
The brief of this still on-going project was to choose a book from Penguin Great Ideas series and illustrate it. I chose to illustrate John Stuart Mill's book "On Liberty". The reason why I chose it was its non fictional content, therefore a very challenging material to work with. In illustrations I wanted to communicate authors ideas of liberty of thought and action; liberty of individual and relation between individual and society; also the power of government over individual. These three images illustrate how relative liberty can be because of the power that is exercised by government over individual, the power of society over individual and the power of an individual over other individuals.
