Modernist Architecture

Modernist Architecture

This self-initiated project explores the idea of nostalgia for a time and place to which you have never been or existed in. The project explores the fictionalization of a real place, fuelled by popular culture through film, television and literature. In this project I have explored this idea through images of modernist architecture in California. These three images depict buildings designed by Richard Neutra and attempt to communicate both the sunny skies, swimming pools and palm trees; and also something darker hidden beneath façade of an ideal place – the ‘dark underbelly of suburbia’.
