Illustrated ephemera for that time of year when it gets cold and we buy each other stuff.
The brief was to create affordable products with illustration and traditional printmaking working together to create desirable gifts. These were then sold alongside other illustrator's products at Christmas markets with the profits going towards our final degree show.
The Christmas Cards are both lino reduction prints, one with three colours, the other with two. Both are printed on 300gsm Somerset paper and measure approximately 13cm x 9cm. I wanted to reflect my experiences of Winter in general, returning home etc, rather than the cliches.
The Calendar is part of a group project with each month realised by a different illustrator. The whole calendar is silk-screened with two colours on off-white paper, collected together in a bounding ribbon and bulldog clips. In keeping with the season, I have contributed January. I focused on those few hours after midnight on New Year's Eve when we make all our resolutions and set out our expectations for the next year. The image box measures at approximately 17cm x 13cm with each months page including a table of dates totally in a page size of approximately 21cm x 31cm.
