'Words' is a one-off hand bound book containing 70 collages relating to the 1930s. There are many references to historical artefacts that originated in this period, such as Monopoly and Penguin books. The majority of the materials I used to make the collages, and the book itself, is original 1930s paper ephemera given to me by my Grandfather. This includes magazines, packaging, maps, instruction leaflets and handwritten letters. The wooden cover is from a 1936 dictionary. There is also a great deal of hand lettering, which was inspired by logos and other pieces of typography from the period. Some of my Grandfather's paper included doodles and notes he made during his childhood in the 30s, which I have included in the book as a way of preservation.
