Napolean Submarine

Napolean Submarine

To illustrate a question in the Q&A section of BBC History Magazine.
The question asked whether there was a plot to rescue Napolean from his imprisonment on St Helena by using a submarine. The answer described that it may have been thought about, and maybe possible but never put into action.
I researched the type of submarine that was mentioned in the copy and found a beautiful technical drawing of it. I adapted and altered this to include a Napolean shaped section and created a mimic of an escape plan that might have been created at the time.
Napolean is adopting the pose from the painting 'Napolean Crossing the Alps' by Jacques-Louis David as he is being lowered - just for an extra historical reference.
