Fable of Yukio

Fable of Yukio

Fable of Yukio is a short story that tells a story of a boy with a special power to transform his life at will, who is helped by each one of the seven deities in the course of his life. The book is set in the late 19th century Japan and the illustrations reference Japanese woodblock prints, but made using coloured pencils. The format of the book is square and illustrations are split into 2 or 3 squares in the fashion of Japanese panels and are positioned on a spread.
The book cover references the ending of the story where Yukio grows old and transforms into a seven storey birch tree impaling a six storey Tokyo building.
