Sea Survival - The Robertson Family

Sea Survival - The Robertson Family

These illustrations were part of a book that I produced which visualised, and brought to life, the amazing, true story of the Robertson Family, who survived in a 3 metre long dinghy in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for 38 days, after their round-the-world voyage was cut short when their yacht was attacked by a pod of killer whales. The tale is of life and death, wide phosphorescent oceans, vast star lit skies, family relations and ingenuity, and reveals glimpses of the unseen realms of the pacific ocean; bursting with life and colour. It's a story of survival. The project was an illustrative feast and allowed me to visually explore a subject that is magnificently beautiful.
The inspiration for this project came from the story's link with Falmouth, where the family's round-the-world journey began.
