Big Draw, Big Make

By David Judd Creative Projects Manager – Learning DepartmentOn Sunday 30 September over 13,000 people took part in the Big Draw, Big Make events at the V&A in a frenzy of sketching, scribbling, stenciling and stiching! The day focussed on showing how important drawing is for design and got visitors involved by giving everyone a portfolio, pencil and paper to go out into the galleries and get creative.

Inspired by…Photography

This year's Inspired By… competition is up and running, with a great display on show in the Sackler Centre showing artists' and designers work which has been inspired by the V&A's collections. To tie in with the exhibition, this weekend we put on a range of talks, workshops and open studios offering visitors a chance to get creative.

‘People watched for these quaint and dashing conceits’

During the past year I have been involved in a project to clear copyright permissions for posters in the Schreyer Collection. As well as involving research to identify rights holders; this work has given me the enviable opportunity to open drawers and boxes – allowing me to see many of the designs. Some of my favourite posters are those produced by literary publishing companies during the 19th century.
