Since my last post I have been immersed in the treasure trove that is the specialist library in the Ceramics & Glass Department. I wanted to find out more about the history and context of some of my favourite objects from the collections, what informed their shape and decoration, before going on to design my shape with that in mind.
Subsequently, I have been playing what I call ‘vase origami’ in the studio, making lots of paper visuals to help me ‘see’ my form. Referencing original pieces but smoothing out the contours.
