The Tower of Babel – Shop of the Day No.66

Moving up to the next tier we have betting shops, chicken shops, some off licences, some convenience stores and pound shops amongst others. I particularly like this one in Archway that has the most amount of different fonts I have ever seen on a shop sign.  Perhaps it was designed by a committee.

As I am working through this project I came to realise that even though shops are at the bottom of the tower and we may initially deride them, to run a shop, any kind of shop is amazing really.  In this economic climate, paying the extortionate high street rates and competing with online sales makes it all the more laudable. I think running a shop is an incredibly difficult thing to do – so hats of to you shopkeepers.
