The Tower of Babel – Shop of the Day No.69

Record shopping Saturday and continuing to climb the Tower. Legendary independent record label was at the epicentre of the punk explosion right at the start and then has gone on to release a catalogue that almost defines the genre of independent music itself. Opened in 1976 in Ladbroke Grove they have seen releases by The Fall, Scritti Politti, Robert Wyatt, Aztec Camera, Augustus Pablo, early electronic music pioneers such as Cabaret Voltaire as well as The Raincoats, Swell Maps, Go Betweens and The Smiths, many many more followed. Now in Golborne Road they continue to release music by artists such as The Libertines, The Strokes and Sufjan Stevens to name just a few.
