Thank you to everyone who came along to our Family Art Fun programme of activities over Christmas and New Year’s. We had over 5,300 people take part in our Russian Avant-garde inspired activities. It was lovely to meet you and thank you for your wonderfully creative designs and of course for your dancing!
For The Imagination Station we worked with illustrator and designer Jane Porter to create an activity sheet for families to use in the display to draw their own geometric and colourful figures and buildings. Families then transformed their drawings into 2D and 3D pieces which they added to an Avant-garde theatre set installation in the galleries. To create the installation we worked with artists Isabel and Helen.
For our Pop-up Performance we worked with Dance Art Foundation who delivered a workshop at the weekends and a performance during the week, inspired by the Nutcracker and the Russian Avant-garde. It was great fun and both the workshop and the performance were wonderfully playful and magical. For the performances in the week, Christmas Crackers, our lecture theatre was filled with balloons, a glitter canon and lots of yelps of laughter with families joining in with the dancing. It was wonderful to see and very enjoyable to work on.
