I thought you might be interested in some photographs of the V&A Patchwork Group!
.
One of the key aims of the exhibition is to inspire a new generation to take up their needles and enjoy making patchwork. We decided that we would practice what we preach and set up an internal Patchwork Group – open to anyone working at the V&A. We would meet once a week, on a Monday lunchtime, people would turn up when they could and spend an hour stitching, chatting and generally taking a break from their desks and the wretched computers which dominate our working and personal lives. The Group has really taken off, with absolute beginners and the more proficient sharing fabric, pins and needles and most importantly their stories. We have a large ‘community chest’ where we can all donate fabric – the sense of anticipation as everyone rummages through the box is palpable!
We felt that we couldn’t honestly write a practical publication without actually making the projects ourselves so we have been busy cutting out and stitching working to an ever closer deadline – our poor editor is at her wit’s end but we have managed to pull it off. The fact that we completed all the projects as well as enjoying the process is a testament to the sheer pleasure of stitching!
No blog next week as I’m off home for a week – no television, no computer just the birds and bees in my garden and a chance to catch up with life beyond the world of quilts! (Well I might just read a fascinating book about Agnes Richter, a Victorian seamstress who stitched a mysterious text into her jacket whilst locked up in an asylum…………..!)
Has the patchwork pattern maker been discontinued? I have written to the museum concerning this. I really enjoyed making quilts out of my own photogramns.
I too am wondering about the Patchwork Pattern Maker. Has it been discontinued, or is the link to the page broken?
Thank you.
I have seen links to a patchwork pattern maker, as well as references to this app.
Is it still available?
Kind Regards
joy
