KYLIE - THE EXHIBITION
Your Say
This is your opportunity to contribute to the Kylie
pages. Every month we will pose a different question
and would like to hear your responses to each of
these.
Current question:
Throughout Kylie's career her audience and the
impact she has had on them have evolved in
response to her constantly changing Image.
How has Kylie influenced your style?

I love all the outfits Kylie wears on stage . They're all so diffrent from the rest, I love to be on stage infront of everyone but if the outfit isn't right you fill so down with yourself, but when it is right and you feel and look great you think that nothing can stop you and you feel on top of the world.

Like many people, I have loved Kylie since her Neighbours days and have followed her career ever since. I've always loved her style too - in 1988 when I was 6, I wanted a red ra-ra dress to be like Kylie! When I saw her performing Especially For You on TOTP I wanted her frilly shirt and grape earrings - I really, really loved everything about her! I wanted hotpants - I have some now, but nothing like as short as those gold ones! And it went on. Over the years she has inspired me through her music, attitude and style. The exhibition was wonderful. Not just seeing the costumes, but the whole experience. I remembered things I had forgotten, such as the Live In Japan video, which I have a copy of somewhere! The photographs were also amazing, as I had never seen some of them. It was exciting to be so close to the things I have seen time and time again on TV and DVDs, to see the detail and colours of everything. There were some outfits I'd like to have seen that weren't there, but I wasn't disappointed with the range at all! Actually some of my favourites were on display - the ribbon dress, the Red Blooded Woman jeans outfit, the pink sequin dress, the white corset dress. Kylie will always be my icon because whatever she does, she does it with style and grace. Thanks to the V and A for showing this collection. And of course to Kylie for the music and inspiration x x x

After bringing my Year 10 Textiles students to the Kylie exhibition on Friday, 25th May, they were delighted in every way. Not only being able to visit London and the V&A Fashion collection, but a bonus of being able to view the Evian "Kylie "exhibition was an amazing experience for us all. To examine "show" costumes first hand and so many different styles, textures and techniques from this excellent collection, has certainly inspired them for their forthcoming final examination coursework. The exhibition layout was as vibrant and energetic as Kylie herself. What a wonderful tribute! Thank you Kylie, Happy Birthday! and gratitude to Evian and the V&A. 28th May 2007

I have been a huge fan of Kylie over the past 20 years and clearly remember her first appearances as Charlene in Neighbours. Kylie is the ulitimate chamelion, she has constantly changed and adapted her image and appearance to stand the test of time. She is a true survivor! As a gay man I think Kylie has reinvented the meaning to camp - her costumes, videos and shows constantly bombard us with bright, happy images. Kylie keeps us coming back for more as she always suprises and entertains. My most memorable experience will be attending her Showgirl - Homecoming Tour at Wembley back in Jan 07 - I was blown away by the show and Kylie exceeded all my expectations - I was on a roller coaster of emotions that evening! I am looking forward to attending the exhibtion at the V&A to get up close and personal with the true Princess of Pop! Long live Kylie - Love and xxxxxx

I have been to the exhibition twice so far and both times it have taken my breath away. Looking at Kylie's outfits throughout the years of her career is amazing. She's so tiny, even my 8 year old wouldn't be able to fit into her clothes or shoes. I loved seeing the detail of her clothes and even the wear and tear from the gruelling tours! Just shows you what hard work she put in. This exhibition isn't just for diehard fans like myself but will be loved by anyone that has a passion for pop culture.

I have been an avid fan of Kylie's since the first time I saw her on Neighbours, and I had to have her "Kylie" album and video when she first came onto the music scene, although my mum wasn't really a fan. It seemed uncool to like Kylie back then, not like now. I felt like I had joined an exclusive club way back then but not now - every one seems to love her, even my 5 year old son. My mum's friend was diagnosed with breast cancer just before Kylie and took comfort from hearing Kylie battle through, and come out the other side, just like she was doing. I was very happy in April 2005 when my friend and I went to see Kylie in her Showgirl tour- the songs, the costumes were awsome, it was the first time I had ever had the chance to see her live. Can't wait to go to the V&A and see this amazing collection. Please keep wowing us will never tire of seeing your amazing outfits.

The name Kylie Minogue really meant nothing to me until a month ago ... I remember the song Locomotion, but not who the artist was ..then someone sent me a youtube link of something and on the side was this music video "On a night like this" ... needless to say, I was hooked!! I called my wife into see the video .. she said THAT is Kylie Minogue?? She gets W and WW so she knew the artist and her fashion trends, but not the voice. We quickly had to have her cd's and what we couldn't find, we downloaded. They now fill my wife's ipod and she uses them as her "walking music" .. see, my wife has multiple sclerosis and the courage and life that Kylie showed during her ordeal only gave my wife more inspiration to stay ahead of her disease. At 54 and 53, we may be a bit older than many of her fans, but the energy in her voice and smile give one a lift we haven't seen in a long time. When I heard of the fragrance coming out, I could find nothing in the States, so the UK got the sale, heck, my wife maybe the first Yank to wear Darling. I hope the marketing of the product gets to the states. I still can't believe the cave I must have been living for the last 15 years to miss out on one of the true wonders of the world. Thank you Kylie, you really do touch lives in ways you can not even imagine. All the best.. David

What an inspiration! I was a Neighbours fan and bought her first album. Then, for my 18th birthday in 1990, my mum got me tickets to her Enjoy Yourself tour - I was hooked. I love her happy music, it reminds me of good times. I went to her 1991 Lets Get To It concert and then again in 2005 to Showgirl all at the NEC. On 9th January of this year I saw her Showgirl 2 at Wembley with my husband who has always loved her. He had never seen her live before and after all she's been through, she looked amazing. What a legend!

I met Kylie at the Virgin Megastore in New York on Feb 15 (if memory serves me right) 2002. At the time, Kylie must have signed around 500 covers for a special CD, for those who had pre ordered the Can't Get You Out Of My Head CD, as she was making a return to the States. Ever so weird to meet someone and getting to see her closer and closer and then, there you are, you have 30 seconds to enjoy it... no speech prepared, you just want to enjoy the view.... and the eyes were defnitely the view amongst everything! Kylie has the look... but more importantly she is Kylie, she is cute, kind, and damn down to earth. She said thank you for the compliment, pointed at her eye and informed me that there was a professional touch there! Awesome... She mispelt my name! If anyone who loves Kylie is named Christien, I have a signed CD for you!

I too have been a fan for many years. Kylie has always been in my thoughts, being the beautiful, charming young lady she is, whatever is thrown at her she fights back. I too have recently been dignosed with cancer; only being 33 years old not sure that I can have my own children. What I love about her is she still puts her diamonds and lippy on and if it's good enough for Kylie then it's good enough for me. Kind Regards Janine

I have been a kylie fan since Neighbours, from I Should be so lucky to now, I have always been an admirer! She is my inspiration as when the news of her illness was announced I too like everyone was shocked , especially as I only had seen her perform days earlier and days later I lost someone close to Cancer which made me realise how precious life is. Her stamina of continuing and determination of doing a comeback tour is outstanding and she continues to do what she does best and entertain us, making good pop records and most of all smiling thru everything - a real fighter and an insperation to us all. I spent NYE with Kylie at Wembley and for all my 30 NYE'S - that was far the best!!

We met the lovely Miss Minogue on a trip to New York back in 2002. She was doing a record signing and we thought hey, why not? Lets go meet Kylie! As we queued for what seemed like an eternity we were starting to think is this worth it? I spent the whole time in the queue not really fazed by our impending meet but then turned into a jibbering, star struck fool as soon as I was face to face with her. My husband on the other hand, whose interest to start with was questionable, entered into a cool as a cucumber chat. He mentioned that the kids had perfected her dance (Cant you get out of my head) to which the princess of pop jumped up and reinacted it for him. Wowsers, what can you say to that!! I was at this stage being escorted by security up the escalators (again, still looking like a complete wide eyed stalker, overwhelmed by our brief meeting) whilst my husband had thought all his Christmases had come at once! To top it all on the way home whilst waiting at JFK airport my husband gave a wave to someone sat behind us, who are you waving at I asked Oh, its Kylie again, I think she is stalking me!....5 years later and he is still hoping that she might! We recently saw her at Wembley and were blown away by how good she was GO KYLIE!
