Processes and Techniques of Photography: A Study Room Resource
Prints and drawings, including fashion illustrations, architectural drawings, design drawings, watercolours, posters and much more, not on display in the galleries, can be seen in the Prints & Drawings Study Room. To make it easier for teachers and lecturers to access the most popular material with groups, we have developed themed study room resources which contain original prints and drawings.
This resource contains a small selection of photographs that represent the major 19th and early 20th century photographic processes and techniques. The definition of each process is taken from 'Looking at Photographs' by Gordon Baldwin (J. Paul Getty Museum, 1991). The Print Room also holds copies of the National Gallery of Canada's photography glossary, which you may also like to use.
