Beth McKillop

Beth McKillop, who was appointed Deputy Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum in November 2010, joined the Asia Department as Keeper in 2004, later becoming Director of Collections.

Beth holds degrees from the Universities of Glasgow and Cambridge, and was a British Council scholar at Peking University in 1976. She worked for many years in the British Library's Asian Collections, specialising in the books and manuscripts of China and Korea, additionally assuming responsibility for exhibitions and loans of Asian manuscripts in the BL collection. From 1990-92 she was founding curator of the V&A's Samsung Gallery of Korean Art, and she continues to take an active interest in Korean art and design. She has contributed to recent V&A galleries of ceramics and of Buddhist sculpture, and has published on a range of Korean subjects ranging from art and museums in North Korea to books and manuscripts in traditional Korean society. 

Beth is a past president of the British Association for Korean Studies, a trustee of Asia House, and a trustee of the Muban Educational Trust, a charity which promotes the study of Chinese printmaking.
