Development of the theatre and performance galleries, 2009
Experiencing Performance, room 104A.
In 2009, the V&A theatre collections were redisplayed in new permanent galleries to provide a new exciting centre for the enjoyment, understanding and study of live performance.
Arranged in 3 main themes - creating performance, staging performance and experiencing performance - the displays include costumes, set models, stage props, original posters and playbills, theatrical prints, paintings, and photographs.
Designer
The gallery was designed by Line Lund from the V&A's Design Department. Her previous work included the exhibition design for Twilight: Photography in the Magic Hour and The Art of Lee Miller.
This development was completed as part of FuturePlan
FuturePlan is transforming the V&A by revitalising visitor facilities and redisplaying the collections. Using the best architects and designers, we are bringing the V&A into the 21st century and restoring modern design and innovation to the heart of the museum.
