Fashion in Motion: Jean Paul Gaultier

May 2003

Fashion in Motion is a series of live catwalk events presented at the V&A. Featuring some of the greatest designers of our time, Fashion in Motion brings catwalk couture to a wider audience by modelling it against the beautiful backdrop of the Museum.

A Fashion in Motion event featuring garments specially selected by Jean Paul Gaultier, a fashion designer who has been at the forefront of fashion for over 20 years.

He is now considered one of the most significant designers of our time. Famous for having brought high fashion to the masses and street style to the catwalk, Jean Paul Gaultier has an unrivalled ability to create a harmonious balance between the radical and the traditional.

Since 1976, Jean Paul Gaultier's themed collections have drawn inspiration from the most eclectic sources, from French cultural icons to the London street scene. Famous for his skirts for men and recreating underwear as outerwear, his clothes transcend the traditional boundaries of gender and fashion.

A gift in your will

You may not have thought of including a gift to a museum in your will, but the V&A is a charity and legacies form an important source of funding for our work. It is not just the great collectors and the wealthy who leave legacies to the V&A. Legacies of all sizes, large and small, make a real difference to what we can do and your support can help ensure that future generations enjoy the V&A as much as you have.
