'October' bowl, silver with gilt interior, designed by Michael Lloyd, 2009, Edinburgh, commissioned by Amanda Game

Silver, Room 66
Free admission

This is a collection of 12 recently commissioned vessels from patrons, friends, curators and fellow makers who were asked to nominate a time of year that had a particular resonance for them. A silver vessel chased with designs drawn from the natural worlds has been created for that individual and their month. Throughout this project, Michael Lloyd has sought to emphasise the relationship that exists between man and the natural world through the eloquent medium of the carefully fashioned object.

About displays

Complementing our permanent collections, there are many free temporary displays around the V&A. They range in size from a single case to a room.

A gift in your will

You may not have thought of including a gift to a museum in your will, but the V&A is a charity and legacies form an important source of funding for our work. It is not just the great collectors and the wealthy who leave legacies to the V&A. Legacies of all sizes, large and small, make a real difference to what we can do and your support can help ensure that future generations enjoy the V&A as much as you have.
