New furniture galleries

The Furniture Galleries will open in December 2012 in galleries 133 to 135, located alongside the Ceramics Study Galleries.
These new galleries will present the Museum’s outstanding collection of British and international furniture from the 15th century to the present day. They will focus on questions of form, function, and techniques of construction and decoration, in the creation of furniture for over six hundred years.
This project has been fully funded by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.
British Design 1948–2012: Innovation in the Modern Age
