Next spring the V&A will open the first UK solo exhibition celebrating the life and work of Yohji Yamamoto, one of the world's most influential and enigmatic fashion designers. The exhibition, featuring over 80 garments, will explore the work of a designer who has challenged, provoked and inspired the fashion world.

Imperial Chinese Robes from the Forbidden City
The magnificent robes worn by the emperors and empresses of the Qing Dynasty, the last ruling dynasty of China, will be shown for the first time in Europe, at the V&A. The exhibition will tell the story of a vanished court life within the confines of the Forbidden City, through exquisite and intricate clothes for grand state functions as well as simple, beautiful garments that were worn daily.

Shadow Catchers: Camera-less Photography
This autumn, the V&A will present the first UK museum exhibition of work by contemporary camera-less photographers: Pierre Cordier (Belgium), Susan Derges (UK), Adam Fuss (UK/ USA), Garry Fabian Miller (UK) and Floris Neusüss (Germany).

Raphael: Cartoons and Tapestries from the Sistine Chapel
The V&A announces that four of the ten tapestries designed by Raphael for the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City will go on show in September 2010. The tapestries will be displayed alongside the full-size designs for them - the famous Raphael Cartoons, which have been on display in the V&A since 1865.

Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballet Russes
The V&A’s major autumn exhibition, Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballets Russes 1909–1929, will explore the world of the influential artistic director Serge Diaghilev and the most exciting dance company of the 20th century. Diaghilev combined dance, music and art in bold ways to create ‘total theatre’. A consummate collaborator, he worked with Stravinsky, Chanel, Picasso, Matisse and Nijinsky.

Grace Kelly: Style Icon
The spectacular wardrobe of Grace Kelly, one of the most popular actresses of the 1950s, is on display at the V&A this spring. Featuring dresses from her films High Society and Rear Window, as well as the gown she wore to accept her Oscar in 1955, the display examines Grace Kelly’s glamorous Hollywood image and enduring appeal.
