This small poster was designed to advertise Harper’s Monthly Magazine on kiosks and news stands. Edward Penfield worked in the art department of the publishers Harper & Brothers in New York. His designs appeared monthly from April 1893 until July 1899 and captured the aspirations of the magazine’s readership.
