Room 137: Ceramics Study Galleries Asia and Europe

Plate, probably painted by Maestro Jacopo, 1510. Musueum no. 1717-1855
The Curtain Foundation Gallery

The Ceramic Study Galleries house the greater part of the V&A’s ceramics collection. In this room you will find Asian and Middle Eastern ceramics, and pottery from mainland Europe made before 1800. Introductory displays in the wall cases are arranged by place of origin, technique, and date. The visible storage display in the centre of the gallery contains the bulk of the collection, arranged according to the same principles as the wall cases.

Room 137 is on Level 6 of the V&A South Kensington.

A gift in your will

You may not have thought of including a gift to a museum in your will, but the V&A is a charity and legacies form an important source of funding for our work. It is not just the great collectors and the wealthy who leave legacies to the V&A. Legacies of all sizes, large and small, make a real difference to what we can do and your support can help ensure that future generations enjoy the V&A as much as you have.
