Room 47f: Chinese Export Art

All the items on display in this room were made in China and brought to the West by merchants who went there to buy tea, silk and porcelain and other craft products, as well as spices and drugs. Some are in European shapes and have decoration which comes from European sources. Some are a blend of European and Chinese forms. Chinese export art and design was important in fashionable western interiors. Many examples can be seen in their western setting in the British Galleries on Level 2 and 4.
Room 47f is on Level 1 of the V&A South Kensington.
Objects you can find in this gallery:A gift in your will
You may not have thought of including a gift to a museum in your will, but the V&A is a charity and legacies form an important source of funding for our work. It is not just the great collectors and the wealthy who leave legacies to the V&A. Legacies of all sizes, large and small, make a real difference to what we can do and your support can help ensure that future generations enjoy the V&A as much as you have.
