Room 38a: Photography

This room contains displays drawn from the national collection of the art of photography at the V&A. The Museum's photography collection is one of the largest and most important in the world. It is international in scope and ranges from the beginnings of photography to the present. The main part of the room shows highlights from the history of photography. The section at the far end is devoted to a programme of temporary displays. There are computers available with a programme showing a selection of images drawn from the V&A collection. Information about the photography collection and photographic processes and techniques can be found in books attached to the benches.
Room 38a is on Level 1 of the V&A South Kensington
A gift in your will
You may not have thought of including a gift to a museum in your will, but the V&A is a charity and legacies form an important source of funding for our work. It is not just the great collectors and the wealthy who leave legacies to the V&A. Legacies of all sizes, large and small, make a real difference to what we can do and your support can help ensure that future generations enjoy the V&A as much as you have.
