Room 70a: Silver Galleries entrance

Silver gallery entrance, room 70a

Room 70a is the entrance to the Silver Galleries which begin in Room 65. At the centre of this room is an electrotype copy by Elkington & Co. of a silver-gilt leopard created originally in 1600. The original is now at the Kremlin in Moscow. Charles 1 sold it with other silver items to the Tsar of Russia in 1627. This copy was made by Elkington in 1884.

Room 70a is on Level 3 of the V&A South Kensington.

A gift in your will

You may not have thought of including a gift to a museum in your will, but the V&A is a charity and legacies form an important source of funding for our work. It is not just the great collectors and the wealthy who leave legacies to the V&A. Legacies of all sizes, large and small, make a real difference to what we can do and your support can help ensure that future generations enjoy the V&A as much as you have.
