Himalayan Art
Some of the finest items in the Himalayan collection include important early Nepalese bronze sculptures, repousse work and embroidery. Tibetan art from the 14th to the 19th century is represented by notable 14th and 15th century religious images in wood and bronze, scroll paintings and ritual objects.
South East Asian Art
Art from Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka in gold, silver, bronze, stone, terracotta and ivory represents the rich and complex culture of the South East Asian region in a display spanning the 6th to 19th centuries. Refined Hindu and Buddhist sculptures reflect influences on the region from India, while betel-nut cutters, ivory combs and bronze palanquin hooks indicate the great diversity of South East Asian arts.
Room 47a is on Level 1 of the V&A South Kensington.
