Donors who pay tax in the UK

Gift aid

Please choose to Gift Aid your donation or subscription. Gift Aid lets us reclaim from HM Revenue & Customs about 25p for every pound you donate, at no extra cost to you. In addition, higher-rate taxpayers can claim 25p back for every pound they donate.

UK taxpayers can also give tax-effectively through the Charities Aid Foundation.

Stocks and shares

You can also give to the V&A while reducing your own tax burden through a gift of stocks and shares. In the budget of April 2000 the Government introduced a significant income tax relief for gifts of quoted shares and securities to charities, in addition to the existing capital gains tax relief.

Overseas donors

Please do not hesitate to contact the V&A development office if you would like to discuss making a tax-effective donation from overseas.  If you are a taxpayer in the USA or Canada, you might find some helpful information below. 

US taxpayers

In the USA, donations can be made to the American Friends of the V&A, an independent organisation incorporated in 1984 that has traditionally supported the V&A. Annual contributions from the American Friends help support acquisitions, conservation and research. Larger donations could be used to provide significant support for FuturePlan.

The American Friends of the V&A is recognized by the US Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt entity described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Canadian taxpayers
