Yohji Yamamoto at the V&A shop

The V&A Shops 'Yohji Yamamoto' range features exclusive and limited edition fashion and accessory designs by Yohji Yamamoto. The designs bring to life Yamamoto's favourite items and key motifs that can be seen throughout his oeuvre, as well as bags made from fabric from his S/S 2011 men's collection, which were inspired by the V&A textile collection.

Yohji Yamamoto Catalogue - £35 Hardback

This stunning book is a fascinating insight into his working approach and relationships with other creative practitioners. It places Yamamoto’s work in context and includes an insightful interview with Yamamoto. The exhibition catalogue is designed by long term Yamamoto collaborator Peter Saville and YES Studio with key photography by Nick Knight, Paolo Roversi and Max Vadukul among others.

This T-Shirt features a graphic print of Yohji Yamamoto's beloved military boots, which he is seldom seen without. Military boots are a key part of his aesthetic and feature heavily in his catwalk presentation where both female and male models wear them.

One of Yohji Yamamoto's favourite things is his Belgium sheepdog Duke, who takes pride of place on this T-Shirt. Yamamoto loved him very much and even included him in one of his look books.

Safety Pin Tote Bag - £10

Safety pins are often used as accessories and fasteners in Yamamoto's collections especially on his knits - a motif that reoccurs throughout his oeuvre. They are printed on this tote bag in five bright colours on the front with the Yohji Yamamoto for the V&A signature on the back of the bag.

Furoshiki Bags - £85

Made from fabric from his S/S 2011 men's collection, Yamamoto found inspiration in the V&A textile collection particularly English cotton chintz from the 1850s 'False Principles No.10-Hollyhock' and a furnishing fabric 'The Birds of America' by John James Audubon. Other inspiration came from Edwardian textiles, wallpaper and embroidery found within the V&A. The bags are exclusive to the V&A and come in 6 assorted patterns.

Silk Polka Dot Scarf - £85

Polka dots are Yohji Yamamoto's signature pattern seen throughout his women's and men's collection since showing in Paris in 1981. Yamamoto's Polka dot scarves are unisex yet have the air of traditional men's loungewear complete with elegant fringe.
