  • Intute - Design
    Intute is a free online portal service providing access to web resources for education and research created by a network of UK universities and partners. The extensive section on Design includes web resources on design education, design history, design organisations and design theory and criticism as well as sections on graphic, industrial, interior, textile and web design among others.
  • International Journal of Design
    This peer-reviewed, open access online journal began publishing in April 2007 and is devoted to publishing research papers in all fields of design, including industrial design, visual communication design, interface design, animation and game design, architectural design and urban design.
  • DIDB - Domestic Interiors Database
    A core project of the AHRC Centre for the Study of the Domestic Interior, this database features visual and textual sources documenting the domestic interior from 1400 to the present. It is linked to more focused studies of the domestic interior in particular places and periods.
  • Designing for the 21st Century
    The Designing for the 21st Century Initiative is based in the School of Design at the University of Dundee. The site provides information on the AHRC/EPSRC funded series of projects supporting leading-edge design research over the period 2005-2009. The research projects aim to support the development of design practice into the 21st century.
  • Designing Britain - Designing Britain 1945 - 1975 The visual experience
    The University of Brighton's Design Archives e-learning resource comprising 7 web-based e-learning modules containing 100 images from the Design Archives collections and other associated collections. Hosted on the AHDS Visual Arts site.
  • Design Research Society
    Site of the Society, founded in 1967, aimed at the design research community with a worldwide, multidisciplinary focus; provides information on its publications, and details on how to join the Society's electronic discussion list
  • Design in Britain
    This online archive of the British Council and the Design Museum features UK designers, architects and design movements of international influence. The illustrated entries provide information on each designer, company or product and a list of further reading.
  • The Design Encyclopedia
    Design Encyclopedia is a user-built reference source on all aspects of design using wiki technology based in the U.S. With a browseable index and sections highlighting the newest entries and recent changes to articles.
  • The Arts University College at Bournemouth - Museum of Design in Plastics
    The site provides access to an online catalogue of the Design Collection Museum at the Arts Institute at Bournemouth with a collection of over 8000 items of 20th and 21st century mass produced design and popular culture. Also provides a link to the Plastics Network website, developed to promote an understanding of the study of plastics and design, with online illustrated case studies.
  • Design Archives - University of Brighton - Faculty of Arts
    The University of Brighton Design Archives comprises twelve collections with a focus on British design in the 20th century, including the important Design Council Archive. The site provides information on each archive and a list of related exhibitions and projects. Images from some of the archives can be viewed in the AHDS Visual Arts website.
