Physical Appearance
Shape: triangular, with right side almost straight and left side cut on an angle.
Construction:  two pieces of fabric hand-sewn together in a french seam with back stitch. 
Opening placement:  horizontal with each end curving upward
Interior compartment: none
Tie: yes,  there are two vertical buttonholes on either side of the upper edge of the pocket, through which the tie is threaded.
Alterations: some darning at either end of opening
Condition: speck of ink on lower left side.  Staining from contact with wood on back.

Given by Mrs. Jean Murray Muir in 1996, from a collection of 19th century dress she had gathered for the purpose of amateur theatrical productions.
