Wild studied Islamic architecture in Cairo and later became the Arabian expert for the South Kensington Museum. He was also Owen Jones's brother-in-law, and together they collaborated on the design of this church. It is an excellent example of Jones's theories on 'unified' design. Byzantine and Romanesque elements blend with Islamic details such as horseshoe arches and striped brickwork.
