The V&A's charitable status

The Victoria and Albert Museum is a charity and relies on your support. As a national museum, we are exempt from registration under Schedule 3 of the Charities Act 2011. This means that we are regulated by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) rather than the Charity Commission, and we do not have a charity registration number.

The V&A also has a related charity: the V&A Foundation, registered with the number 1144508.

The V&A Americas Foundation

The V&A Americas Foundation is an independent charity based in New York that supports the work of the V&A by raising gifts towards acquisitions, exhibitions, scholarship and capital projects. It receives full tax exempt status from the IRS under section 501(c) (3) allowing United States taxpayers to receive tax deductions on gifts.
