Joshua Davis is a New York-based artist, designer and technologist. He produces both public and private work for companies, collectors and institutions. He began his experimentation in programming languages while studying painting and illustration at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute. During the late 1990s he became a cult figure in web design. He built his own Flash-based programmes and created multiple websites to showcase his work, including the influential praystation.com, one of the first sites to offer open-source Flash files. Davis is the winner of the 2001 Prix Ars Electronica Golden Nica. He has exhibited works at Tate Modern, the Pompidou Centre, and PS.1 MoMA, New York.
