CHRIS O'SHEA (b. 1981, UK)


The founding members of rAndom International: Hannes Koch (b. 1975, Germany), Florian Ortkrass (b. 1975, Germany) and Stuart Wood (b. 1980, UK), met while at Brunel University in 2002 and went on to study together at the Royal College of Art, London. Their work is a convergence of science, art and design. rAndom International have won various awards, including the iF Design Award 2005 and 2006 and the Wallpaper* Design Award 2006. Their work has been shown in Tate Modern and the V&A. rAndom was recently awarded an Honourable Mention in the Interactive Art category of the Prix Ars Electronica 2009.

Chris O’Shea is an artist and experience designer. He creates installations that playfully challenge our perception of spaces and objects. He has been commissioned by BBC Big Screen, Design Museum and Science Gallery, Dublin, and has collaborated with Silent Studios and Cinimod Studio. His production clients include AllofUs, ico design, Greyworld, Jason Bruges Studio, Moritz Waldemeyer and Moving Brands, with works appearing as part of the onedotzero Adventures in Motion Festival, Royal Opera House, Southbank Centre, Tate Britain, Wellcome Collection and the V&A. He studied at the MediaLab Arts at the University of Plymouth, is the author of the Pixelsumo blog and a founding member of This Happened.

Audience is situated at the bottom of the staircase leading to the National Art Library (Staircase L).

rAndom International also created Study for a Mirror in the Interactivity section of the exhibition
