BODISME - the body as a tool of invisible communication

Throughout the exhibition of Fashion V Sport, a specially created smell will connect the different sections: DARE; DISPLAY; PLAY; DESIRE. The smells will be samples taken from real bodies in action, then simulated through the technology Headspace and recreated through chemicals. Activated by the visitor, they are intended to reinject the human body into the exhibition space.

Sissel Tolaas (born 1959) is a Norwegian artist who lives in Berlin. She studied mathematics, chemistry and visual arts. Since 1990 she has concentrated on the language and communication of smell, focusing particularly on the concept of capturing the essence of a person or a place. She has contributed work to the Liverpool Biennial International 06 and most recently to the Synthetic Times: Media Art Now exhibition in Beijing. Tolaas also works closely with companies such as Cartier and Adidas and lectures at various international universities.
